Mandatory health insurance premium to maintain at level of 2023 in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament approved, in the first reading, the draft law on the mandatory health insurances accounts (FAOAM) for the 2024 year. Under the document, revenues and expenses worth 15.4 billion lei are planned and the mandatory health insurance premium will be maintained at the level of this year and will amount to 12,636 lei.
Thus, in 2024, the value of the FAOAM revenues will increase by 6.1 per cent against the revenues specified for 2023 and will reach 15,420, 082.4 thousand lei.
According to the Health Ministry, 8.4 billion lei out of all sum of FAOAM, or 54.6 per cent, represents the own revenues and 45.4 per cent will be the transfers from the state budget. Respectively, the mandatory health insurance premiums as percentage contribution from the salary and other rewards, paid by employees, will amount to 8 billion lei, which is by 15.1 per cent more against the sum approved in 2023. At the same time, the revenues collected from the mandatory health insurances premiums in fixed sum, paid by private people, will stand at 162 million lei.
At the same time, the expenses of the mandatory health insurances accounts in 2024 are to be of 15,420, 082.4 thousand lei, up by 6.1 per cent against the spending specified for 2023.
Respectively, the fund for the payment of the medical and pharmaceutical services will amount to 15.1 billion lei in 2024, up by 8.9 per cent against this year. Most expenses, 7.7 billion lei, are meant for the hospital medical assistance. As much as 648 million lei is needed for covering the expenses dealing with the increase in salaries for the staff of the public medical and sanitary institutions involved in the mandatory health insurances system and 23 million lei – for increasing the salaries of resident physicians.
Also, next year, the expenses meant for the medical services provided by the medical and sanitary institutions based on the family medicine principle will grow as well. They will reach 3 billion lei.
Expenses worth one billion lei and 80 million lei are planned for the compensation of medicines and medical devices. As much as 54.8 million lei out of this sum will be collocated for extending the list of compensated medicines. Another 365 million lei is meant for the highly advanced medical services and 94.8 million lei – for palliative care services.
In 2024, the fund of development and modernization of the public providers of medical services, which will amount to 50 million lei, will grow by 20 million lei. Another 55 million lei is meant for the prophylaxis measures fund. Immunizations and prophylactic examinations (screenings) will be made with this money.
