Moldovan Education Ministry allocates about 22 million lei for renovation of five student hostels

Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) has allocated about 22 million lei (1.1 million euros) for the renovation of five student hostels. The State University of Moldova (USM), Moldovan Technical University (UTM), Academy of Economic Studies (ASEM), the Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University from Chisinau and the Balti-based Alecu Russo State University will benefit from additional financing in this respect.
Thus, 4.74 million lei will be allocated for the change of the electricity networks, thermal networks and endowment with furniture of the hostel No 8 of UTM. A similar sum will be meant for the repair of the hostel No 2 of ASEM. Another 4.74 million lei will be used for the thermal insulation of the building, repair of the roof and sanitary units from the hostel No 4 of the Ion Creanga University.
At the same time, MEC will allocate 4.2 million lei for the repair of the roof and purchasing of furniture in the student hostel No 1 of USM. A sum of 3.5 million lei will be distributed for the repair and thermal insulation of the Olimp hostel of the Balti-based Alecu Russo State University, at the headquarters of which there is also the University’s medical office.
According to MEC, the overall volume of the budgetary allocations for the additional financing of the public higher education institutions subordinated to the Ministry for the 2023 financial year exceeded 55 million lei.
