Over 400 wines exhibited at 20th edition of Wine Vernissage in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - Wines of higher quality and cognacs have been displayed at the 20th edition of the Wine Vernissage, titled, Come, Winter Tale, held in Chisinau. Over 70 wine-makers brought together under the umbrella of the country brand, Wine of Moldova. A Living Legend, presented about 400 wines to the public.
Visitors tasted and assessed 92 wines which had got medals at the national contest, Wine of Moldova. The wines were assessed by a jury made up of international experts. They were produced out of native varieties and of the new Moldovan selection.
Attending the opening of the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said that, in the last ten years, the Moldovan wines’ quality has considerably improved and this is due to wine-makers’ work. The official was awarded the prize, Knight of Wine Vernissage, for essential contribution to the sector’s development and promotion.
During the 2023 year, the Moldovan wine-makers who brought together under the country brand, Wine of Moldova. A Living legend, won 700 medals at international specialized contests.
The event was organized by the National Office of Vine and Wine, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Moldova, within the Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Activity in Moldova Project.
Moldova is among the first 20 wine-producing countries, being also an important exporter from all over the world. The vine-growing and wine-making industry represents one of the key branches of the country’s national economy. Moldovan wines are imported by over 70 countries from various regions of the world. This year, the country marks ten years since the launch of the country wine brand, Wine of Moldova. A Living Legend, internationally.
