National Cyber Security Agency to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, Dec. 21 /MOLDPRES/- The level of safety of citizens, state institutions and private environment will be increased. The cabinet approved today creation of the National Agency for Cyber Security, the government's communication department has reported.
The institution will have the mission of implementing state policies in the cyber security, in order to ensure a high level of security of the networks and IT systems of service providers.
A response team to cyber incidents at national level will be formed and a single national point of contact will be established, which will ensure the interaction of national public authorities and institutions with similar authorities in other states.
The institution will be responsible for protecting critical information infrastructure, identifying and recording service providers, implementing a mandatory mechanism for reporting cyber incidents, as well as supervision and state control of compliance by service providers with the normative framework in the cyber security.
With the establishment of the Agency, it will be possible to implement strategies and policies that strengthen national security and contribute to increasing the level of awareness and education of citizens in the cyber security.
