Moldovan parliament hears leadership of more state institutions

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The leadership of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) and the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) was heard in parliament as to the evolution of the One-billion-dollar theft file during two hours today.
The lawmakers asked for information on the sums of money returned to the state by those three banks involved in the bank fraud, on the state and turning to account of the assets on which a levy was put in this file, as well as about the people involved in the theft and whether they were called to account or not.
Thus, the Finance Ministry’s representative informed that those three banks had returned about 2.8 billion lei during 2015-2023.
The MPs put more questions also to the BNM governor on the civil servants of the National Bank who had been prosecuted for involvement in this file and to the leadership of the Agency for Crime Assets Recovery (ARBI) concerning the levy put on a complex from Spain, which belongs to Vlad Plahotniuc.
Following the hearings, a lawmaker of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Radu Marian, said on his page that the first part of the hearings had been focused on BNM, as the things ‘’are serious’’ there.
