Production, sale of anabolics to be banned in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The production and sale of medicines with content of anabolic and androgenic steroids will be banned in Moldova. The parliament adopted a draft law to this effect in the second reading today.

The document, worked out by the Health Ministry, stipulates ban of the import, fabrication, distribution, sale, prescription and release of dopes, especially of steroids and anabolic steroids.

The legislative amendments are aimed at preventing and combating the illicit production and trafficking of doping substances in Moldova, at removing the residents’ physical access to dopes in non-medical conditions, as well as at adjusting the national legislation to the international standards.

According to the Health Ministries, huge quantities of medicines with content of anabolic and androgenic steroids are fabricated and exported in Moldova. These substances can be bought in drugs stores based on medical prescriptions.
