Moldovan PM congratulates prizewinning pupils at Gala of Participants in Olympiads

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - Thirty five pupils who during this year have achieved outstanding results at regional and international Olympiads and contests today were awarded prizes by Prime Minister Dorin Recean at the Gala of the Participants in Olympiads. Attending the event was also Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun, the government’s communication department has reported.
In his speech, the PM thanked the young people, parents and teachers for the work carried out and wished them success.
„I know with how much self-denial and effort you achieved the results with which your teachers, parents are proud and with which all of us are proud, the entire country. I want you to know that Moldova needs this academic performance, which is to turn into an economic and social one. Together, we can become advanced as society and we can become including members of the European Union as a proud nation,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at the event.
The education and research minister congratulated the young people on the results achieved and urged them to turn to good account their potential at home, in Moldova, in order to edify a future European state.
„It is quite important that we show that special results are achieved in Moldova. I want to thank the teachers and young people for effort and to tell you that the country needs you,’’ Minister Dan Perciun said.
This year, the Olympic teams in mathematics, informatics, chemistry, biology, physics, sciences and engineering, English language managed to get 52 distinctions, among which 6 silver medals, 25 bronze medals, 19 mentions of honour and two special prizes.
