Anca Dragu appointed to office of governor of National Bank of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - Anca Dragu has been appointed to the office of Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). The parliament today adopted a draft decision to this effect with the votes of 58 MPs.
The lawmakers said that Anca Dragu had an important experience in the financial and banking sector and in public policies and accession to EU. She worked at the National Bank of Romania and International Monetary Fund during 15 years and acted as public finance minister in the government of Romania. In 2020, Anca Dragu was elected president of Romania’s Senate.
Anca Dragu was appointed as BNM governor for a period of seven years. The decision enters into force on the date of its adoption.
The position of BNM governor became vacant on 21 December evening, after Octavian Armasu was dismissed by the parliament from this office.
