Chisinau, Dec. 24 /MOLDPRES/- After three years of mandate, President Maia Sandu announces she will run for a new mandate and is asking parliament to organize a referendum, the presidential press service has reported.
"Dear citizens, a few years ago, we started together on a path of transforming Moldova into a better country. After 3 years of mandate, we managed to maintain peace at home, strengthen the country's independence, have a government with the people and open negotiations for Moldova's accession to the European Union. Our future is in the European family and it is necessary to say clearly - the whole country - which path we choose for Moldova. I request the Parliament to initiate the organization of a referendum next autumn, in which the voice of the citizens will be decisive", Maia Sandu said.
The official said that during her mandate she undertook to complete the mission of European integration: "We have got the support of the member states for this path and we need your support, dear Moldovans, to succeed. We still have important steps to take and I am committed to continue, if you give me the confidence for a new mandate in 2024".
