Chisinau, Dec. 27 /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu and Director-General of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission (DG MOVE) Magda Kopczynska signed online yesterday high-level Memorandum of Understanding between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova on indicative maps of Trans-European transport network (TEN-T) of Moldova.
The agreement will contribute to ensuring the coherence between the trans-European transport network of the EU and the transport network of Moldova and underlines the importance of connectivity and the development of sustainable transport infrastructure between our country and neighboring EU countries.
The indicative maps of the Trans-European Transport Network include European transport corridors to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Thus, the North-Baltic Corridor was extended through Lvov and Kiev to Mariupol; Baltic-Black Sea-Aegean Sea corridor was extended through Lvov, Chernivtsi (Romania and Moldova) to Odessa; and Baltic-Adriatic and Rhine-Danube corridors will pass through Lviv, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) said.
This means that two road segments R7 (Soroca-Drochia-Costești, border with Romania) and R30 (Anenii Noi-Căușeni-Ștefan Vodă, border with Ukraine) will be part of the trans-European road network. Chisinau-Căinari-Basarabeasca and Balti-Ocnița railway sections will be part of the TEN-T network.
"The inclusion of logistics routes in the TEN-T network will contribute to attracting European investments for the modernization of the transport infrastructure and will remove the existing obstacles in carrying out logistics operations", said MIDR.
