Vetting Commission sent first evaluation reports to CSM

Chisinau, Dec. 27 /MOLDPRES/- Vetting Commission sent the first evaluation reports to the Superior Council of Magistracy /CSM/. It has completed the evaluation regarding Aliona Miron, a judge in office at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ), and regarding the candidates for the position of CSJ judge, Sergiu Brigai and Viorica Puica, and proposes to the CSM that the three subjects promote the external evaluation.

The reports on the evaluation, with the relevant facts and the reasons that were the basis of the Commission members' conclusion, as well as all the materials related to the evaluation, were sent to the subjects and the CSM.

Thus, the CSM is to examine in a public meeting the evaluation files from the Commission and the results of the evaluation. By reasoned decision, the CSM can accept or reject the evaluation reports. Also, the CSM can order once the resumption of the evaluation, if it finds factual circumstances or procedural errors, which could have led to a different result of the evaluation.

The three candidates were evaluated by the Vetting Commission under the Law 65/2023 on the external evaluation of judges and candidates for the position of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice. The evaluation involves the detailed verification of their financial and ethical integrity.
