Moldova to ratify Convention on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - The employees, probationers, volunteers of Moldova will enjoy a safe working environment, free from violence and harassment. The cabinet of ministers today approved a draft law on the ratification of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Convention No 190 on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work.
According to the government’s communication department, the Convention is meant for all employees of the formal and informal economy and clearly establishes the role of the governments and social partners in the prevention, approaching and remedying of the violence and harassment in the world of work.
The ratification and implementation of the Convention’s provisions will contribute to the improvement of the normative framework in the field, in order to eliminate the violence and harassment in the world of work, through recognizing the right of each person to a safe space of work.
In Moldova, the document will enter into force in a one-year period, following the submission of the ratification instrument. The Convention was adopted in Geneva on 21 June 2019 and entered into force on 25 June 2021.
