Moldovan parliament amends customs policy for 2024

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers today voted in the second reading a string of amendments to the customs policy for the 2024 year, in order to simplify and standardize the processes in the customs sector.
The draft’s goal is to adjust the provisions of the Fiscal Code, in order to improve its regulations, as well as to ensure the full harmonization of the customs legislation with the European Union’s legislation. Eleven normative acts will be amended, among which the Customs Code, Contravention Code, Enforcement Code, the Law on the regulation through authorization of the entrepreneurial activity, etc.
The amendments made are focused, in particular, on customs procedures and administrations. Also, in order to transpose the EU legislation, a string of exemptions were included, which are applied for several categories of subjects.
The draft also envisages amendments which regard the way of declaring the goods introduced on the area of the free economic zones, port or airport, to the fields of public money in the part dealing with the mechanism of distribution of the collections related to the taxes on natural resources between the state budget and the local budgets, norms concerning the regulation of the powers of the customs employees with the right to consider contravention causes.
