Moldovan parliament appoints two members of Board of Centre for Strategic Communication and Combating Misinformation

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today appointed Petru Macovei and Valeriu Pasa as members of the Board of the Centre for Strategic Communication and Combating the Misinformation for a five-year term. Fifty nine MPs voted for the two candidates.
The candidacies of Petru Macovei and Valeriu Pasa were selected following a public contest organized by the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media.
The Centre for Strategic Communication and Combating the Misinformation was founded in last July. The institution’s task is to consolidate and improve the inter-institutional efforts in the fight against the misinformation, manipulation of information and against the coordinated actions of spreading messages, narratives, communications which pose danger or can jeopardize the fulfillment of the national interests. The Centre carries out its work, in order to promote the national interests, including the maintaining of peace, democratic consolidation, social cohesion, accession to the European Union.
The Centre’s Board is made up of 11 members. Two of them, representatives of the civil society, are selected through contest by the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media and are confirmed by the legislative body.
