Moldovan PM meets public authorities from Balti city

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean and representatives of the local public authorities and the de-concentrated services from the Balti municipality have discussed opportunities of development of Moldova’s northern region, the government’s communication department reported.   

In the discussions with mayors, the PM referred to the need to modernize the regional infrastructure from the northern part of Moldova, through investment projects made available by European partners, as well as at the expense of the increase in the revenues of the local public authorities (APL).

„The government increased the salaries of the mayors, deputy mayors and of the councils’ secretaries; now, you have the motivation and instruments necessary for increasing the local revenues. We must edify Europe at home; renovate roads, kindergartens, schools and universities. The government finished the procedure of assuming the financing for the Balti Regional Hospital; we inaugurated a new headquarters of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU); yet, the contribution of the local authorities is also important in the process of our country’s modernization,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.   

Also, the prime minister highlighted the need of a better exploring of the economic potential from the region and creating opportunities for the attraction of investors in the development of businesses. In the context, the PM encouraged the mayors to promote the opportunities provided by the 373 governmental programme. This year, over 100 entrepreneurs have already benefited from the programme, with the overall value of the investment projects of almost half a billion lei.   

The participants in the meeting discussed problems on the supply with water of the Balti city, losses of electric energy, caused by an improper management of the financial resources in the last years and which must be settled by the local public authorities as soon as possible.
