Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament voted, in the second reading, amendments to the Enforcement Code, aimed at improving the normative framework.
The document was worked out by the group of MPs of the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), through the recommendations set forth by the national and international institutions in the field of human rights’ observance. The document regards both the rights of the detained people and the actions of the staff from the penitentiaries.
The draft’s authors suggest that the detained people have short online meetings through applications for videoconferences. Also, in case of short physical meetings, the convict will no longer bore financial expenses, as it occurs at present. The convicts will have right to phone conversations at their own expense and the penitentiary’s administration is obliged to set phones inside the jails.
Also, the criteria of separation of the convicts will be revised and the conditions of fulfillment of the right of convicted people to petitioning will be harmonized.
