IGSU sets recommendations for citizens on orange code of sudden weather change

Chisinau, Jan 5. /MOLDPRES/- The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) presented recommendations for citizens in the context of the orange code of sudden weather changes, issued today by meteorologists.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, in connection with the movement of a southern cyclone and the penetration of a polar air mass near the territory of the country, bad weather conditions are expected on January 7-10.
In this context, IGSU urges citizens to avoid going on the road during blizzards and heavy snow.
The warnings of rescuers and firefighters also come in the context of the formation of the ice bridge on the surface of lakes, rivers and ponds in the country.
According to the forecast of meteorologists, starting from January 7, precipitation will fall in the form of rain with transformation into sleet and snow on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. On January 8, it will snow heavily (15-20 l/m2), isolated thunderstorms will be reported, strong wind gusting up to 15-20 m/s, the average daily air temperature will drop by 10-15° C.
To prevent risky situations, during bad weather conditions, citizens are urged to follow the recommendations of the authorities, as well as to constantly check the weather. In emergency and risky situations, people are urged to urgently call the 112 Service.
