Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - The producers of cereals who have registered losses because of the crises of the last years will be able to request, as of 1 March, an emergency agricultural loan, which will allow them starting the spring agricultural season. The new support mechanism, announced at the previous meeting, today was unveiled by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea, during new discussions with farmers, the government’s communication has reported.
„Our approach will always be according to the principles of providing the targeted assistance to the enterprises in need, according to the necessities. We are to identify also other measures of support for farmers,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
Thus, the micro- and small enterprises will be able to benefit from loans worth up to 500,000 lei, with a 90-per cent guarantee on behalf of the state. The loans will be provided by all those 11 licenced banks from Moldova and will be able to be used to buy seeds, fuel, fertilizers, in order to pay the mechanized services in agriculture and the workers. The Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) will analyze the files submitted till 31 May this year.
„Moldova’s government knows the problems faceted by the cereals producers and each time it came up with concrete measures of support. Fifty million lei has been already earmarked from the government’s intervention fund, in order to compensate the farmers’ losses in the wake of the drought.
In the last year alone, we provided almost 2 billion lei for subsidies and other types of assistance in agriculture. The blocking of customs posts and roads is not a solution to solve the problems in the sector; this does not help anybody; on the contrary, this creates problems to people, carriers, as well as to the producers of cereals,’’ Prime Minister Dorin said.
