Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in the launch of the National Institute for Education and Leadership (INEL). At the event, she referred to the fact that the future society depended on each citizen, but especially on each man who works in education, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state stressed that the principal role of INEL was to improve the level of the quality of teaching in schools, to help the teachers from all over Moldova in the educational process, but especially to contribute to the promotion of the values and the shaping of characters.
„A free and prosperous country is edified on characters and values. The tragedy of the war in the neighbour country shows us quite clearly that a society where one can develop is a society, first of all, peaceful and certainly, free. This is the society which we want to edify,’’ the Moldovan president said.
At the same time, Maia Sandu noted that the choice between peace and war, between democracy and tyranny is not a mere political discussion and the life of all citizens depended on this choice. ‘’The education through values is not about the policy of a party; it is about the natural policy and mission of the school; it is about the duty of each teacher to help the child understand this complex reality and consciously choose his/her future,’’ the head of state also said.
The Moldovan president specified that she relied on the contribution of each citizen to the education of a society prepared for the European future of Moldova. ‘’The European Union is, first of all, a project of peace, a family of countries where each citizen is free to turn to good account his/her potential. Our success as society is in our hands. This is maybe a difficult mission, but there is no more important mission in the today’s Moldova but the education,’’ Maia Sandu added.
