Moldovan folk music singer marks birthday

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Singer Veta Ghimpu-Munteanu, a soloist of the Tălăncuța ethno and folkloric band, master in art, marks her birthday today.
Veta Ghimpu-Munteanu was born in the Paicu village, southern Cahul district, on 28 February 1956. She graduated from the Gavriil Musicescu Institute of Arts. Starting from 1980, Ghimpu-Munteanu worked as editor and presenter in the music editorial office of Radio Moldova. She made over 50 portraits and interviews with folk and light music singers from the two banks of the Prut river.
Also in 1980, the singer started her activity at the Tălăncuța ethno and folkloric band, led by Andrei Tamazlâcaru. She made 4 CDs.
Veta Ghimpu-Munteanu is member of the Musicians’ Union of Moldova. She is laureate of more festival and contests.
