Latest developments on Transnistrian file discussed with high OSCE official at Moldova's Foreign Affairs Ministry

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi has had a meeting with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process Thomas Mayr-Harting, on a working visit to Moldova.
The discussions were focused on the preparation of a visit to Moldova by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Affairs Minister of Malta Ian Borg. Also, the officials reviewed the latest developments in the Transnistrian file, including in the part dealing with the gradual brining of the work of the economic agents from the region into the national legal field, Moldova’s European integration process, as well as the regional security context.
At the same time, the sides expressed concern about the precarious state of the human rights in Moldova’s eastern district and the abusive persecution of citizens by Tiraspol. The Moldovan official reiterated the call to the OSCE Mission in Moldova to have an active contribution to achieve tangible progress on the concerned dimension.
Minister Popsoi reconfirmed Moldova’s firm commitment to promote the peaceful and political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, as well as to preserve a calm and predictable security atmosphere in the region, including in cooperation with the strategic partners.
