Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The household electric appliances sold in Moldova will post the new-type energy label, with information on the energy class of the product and the consumption of electric energy.
The government today approved the regulations on the energy labelling of fridges, washing machines and dishwashers, lamps and electronic posters, based on the new law on the labelling of the products with energy impact, approved in 2023 and which transposes the new labels adopted by the European Union.
Thus, the labels will classify the products on a scale from A to G, A being the most energy efficient products; the labels will contain clear information on the consumption of energy or of other resources, as well as other additional information.
„For Moldova, these regulations are important, as they will allow reducing the consumption of energy in the residential sector, in charge of about a half of the final consumption of energy. Besides, the energy labels will allow an easier inclusion of household electric equipment in the EcoVoucher programme, which we launched last year,’’ Energy Minister Victor Parlicov said.
The State Inspectorate for Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumers’ Protection is the institution in charge of the verification of labels and quality of products in the trade networks.
The Energy Ministry informed that the replacement of the energy inefficient household electric appliances will contribute to the cutting of the greenhouse effect emissions by 268,000 tons of CO2 in Moldova.
