Another four measles cases detected at Chisinau-based placement centre

Chisinau, 21 March /MOLDPRES/ - Another four cases of measles, of which one in a 11-year-old child, have been detected at the centre of temporary placement for refugees from Chisinau.
According to the National Public Health Centre (ANSP), other cases with suspicion of measles are under investigation.
„All people with symptoms related to the measles infection – fever, cough, skin rash – were hospitalized at specialized medical institutions where they receive medical care. The epidemiological inquiry continues and the contacts are supervised by physicians. ANSP specialists continue the measures in the hotbed for its localization,’’ ANSP noted.
Since the beginning of this year, 16 measles cases have been confirmed through laboratory diagnosis, of which 11 ones in the hotbed recorded at the centre of temporary placement for refugees from Chisinau.
Measles is an extremely contagious disease with serious complications, but which can be prevented through vaccination. The vaccination is made for free at the ages of 12 months, 6-7 and 15-16 years.
