European Council asks to quickly adopt framework of negotiation with Moldova

Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The European Council has welcomed the progress made by Moldova and Ukraine in the advancement of the reforms needed on the way of accession to the European Union, reads a document on the conclusions of a meeting held on 21 March, the government’s communication department reported.
Thus, the European Council invited the EU member states to quickly adopt the draft framework of negotiation with Moldova and Ukraine and submit the approaches without delay.
The conclusions also read that the European Union will continue providing Moldova with every needed support, in order to cope with the challenges faced as a result of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. EU will also continue consolidating the resilience, security and stability of the country before Russia’s destabilizing activities.
The European Council welcomed the bilateral commitments of the member states to support the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova, in order to enhance the resilience of the security sector.
It is worth mentioning that, in December 2023, the European Council ruled the opening of the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to EU and on 13 March 2024, the European Commission submitted the draft framework of negotiation with Moldova to the European Council for consideration.
