Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors have met their counterparts from the Commission for the Evaluation of Judges. The sides discussed a string of subjects of common interest, including the procedures of verification.
„Although we carry out our activity in parallel, we will share the same experience and most likely, we will face the same challenges. Therefore, it is important that we establish a close cooperation and coordinate the practices of evaluation, in order to prevent any major inconsistencies,’’ the president of the Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors, Christopher Lehmann, said.
The members of the Commission for the Evaluation of Judges welcomed this approach and came up with a proposal to periodically meet and discuss any unclear things which might come about. ‘’By assuming this exercise, it is important that we align our methodologies of evaluation and stay consistent during the entire process of verification,’’ the president of the Commission for the Evaluation of Judges, known as Commission 2, Scott Bales, noted.
The Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors, called Commission 3, started working in December 2023. The commission is empowered to assess the ethic and financial integrity of the prosecutors in key positions and the specialized ones, as well as the candidates for these offices.
The Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors carries out its activity in parallel with the Commission 2. This Commission evaluates the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice and the courts of appeal, the presidents and/or the deputy presidents of courts, as well as the candidates who apply for these positions.
At the same time, both Commissions are in charge of continuing the evaluation of the candidates for the office of member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors and, respectively, of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
