Moldovan, Latvian officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, March 26. /MOLDPRES/- On an official visit to Riga, Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting with Saeima Speaker of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The discussions focused on the cooperation relations between Latvia and Moldova. Latvia is among the firm supporters in our European path and in the effort to build a prosperous society for the Moldovan citizens. Grosu thanked the Latvian authorities for the vote granted at the opening of the European integration negotiations. "We have a similar history and we want to meet again in the great European family", Grosu said.

The officials also talked about some concrete initiatives to boost bilateral relations through joint projects that make Moldova stronger and more advanced in the approximating national legislation to the European one. "We are interested in adopting good practices in areas such as strategic communication and information security, strengthening the internal affairs, fighting corruption, especially within the rogatory commissions to identify and recover stolen goods and sanction the people who robbed the state and the Moldovan citizens", Grosu said.
