Forty one services for vulnerable people developed with support of EU, Soros Foundation Moldova

Chisinau, 27 March /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 41 social services for people from vulnerable groups of Moldova have been created or improved by civil society organizations, in partnership with the local and public central authorities.     

The activities were carried out within the project, Civil society organizations act for good social services. Thus, 12 day centres or placement centres for children and adults at risk, eight mobile teams and services of care at home, six centres of rehabilitation for children and adults with disabilities, three professional orientation services for young people at risk, three community houses and protected dwellings, three services for children and adults with sight and hearing disabilities, two social laundries, one social canteen, as well as one Barnahus-type centre in Balti were set up. These services work in 29 districts and municipalities of the country.  

The project started in 2021 and will end in July 2024, with an overall budget of 3.375 million euros, of which the European Union’s contribution is of 3 million euros. During the project, over 6,700 people from the vulnerable groups benefited from social services, of whom 58.4 per cent of the beneficiaries are from the rural environment and 41.6 per cent – from the urban settlements. Most (74 per cent) beneficiaries are children and 17 per cent – elderly people.

The project is financed by the European Union, co-financed and implemented by the Soros Foundation Moldova, in partnership with the IP Keystone Moldova and the public organization, Institutum Virtutes Civilis.
