PHOTO Customs Service conducting pilot project to test body cameras for customs officials

Chisinau, March 28. /MOLDPRES/- Customs Service has started a pilot project to test the stationary equipment and 24 4G body camera units that will be equipped with customs officers in the first and second line of control. The purpose of the equipment is to increase the safety of employees in the performance of their duties.
According to the Customs Service, at the first stage the pilot project to test body cameras was started at the Leușeni customs post, and later the customs officers in the second line of control will also be equipped.
Thus, the customs officials were trained on the use of the cameras and their functionalities. The purpose of the equipment is to increase the level of protection and security of customs officials in the process of detecting and documenting cases of smuggling and violation of customs legislation.
At the same time, the video recordings may be used as evidence/material evidence to establish the existence or non-existence of the contravention/crime or other violations of the law.
