Moldovan president, ethnic minorities' representatives discuss referendum on Moldova's accession to EU

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met representatives of ethnic minorities, with whom she tackled the subject on the organization of the referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union. The head of state stressed that the accession to the European Union brought a string of benefits for each citizen, no matter his/her ethnic affiliation, the presidential press service has reported.
The Moldovan president noted that EU put strong emphasis on the protection of the rights of minorities and on the promotion of the cultural diversity, as well as provided financial assistance for the support and development of the communities which include ethnic minorities.
At the same time, President Maia Sandu urged the people present at the meeting to back and promote the European integration way of Moldova in the communities they belonged to. The head of state emphasized that the accession to the European Union meant peace, more investments in infrastructure, education and projects on local development, which leads to the improvement of the living standards for all Moldova’s citizens.
