Project for setting up Centre for Culture and Contemporary Art "Universe" launched

Chisinau, March 29 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Culture today launched the project for the establishment of the Centre for Culture and Contemporary Art "Universe", following the revitalisation of the Polygraphic Publishing Complex of the same name.

Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that the possibility to set up a modern centre for culture and contemporary art in Chisinau has long been discussed.

According to the official, the building will be granted for the independent cultural sector and comprises a total space of over 21.000 square meters.

The revitalisation of the space will be done after a feasibility study. Financial resources will be allocated following the sale of the Republican Stadium land to the US Embassy.

"It will not be a space for institutions under the Ministry. This space will be for artists for various cultural activities," he said.

The official came with an appeal to the representatives of the independent cultural sector to come up with proposals about cultural activities they would like to organize in the Centre for Culture and Contemporary Art "Universe".
