Moldovan president attends reopening event of historical monument in Causeni

Chisinau, March 29 /MOLDPRES/ - On a working visit to Causeni, President Maia Sandu today participated jointly with Causeni people in the reopening of the Church Adormirea Maicii Domnului.

The church, one of the oldest in the country, is a unique monument and was restored with funding of the American people and the contribution of our government. This is the largest US-funded restoration and conservation project of a cultural monument in Moldova.

"This is good news for all of us, but especially for Causeni inhabitants, whose history and identity is closely linked to this place. The church, now a museum, puts Causeni on the tourist map of the country and the region, especially as it is the only church in our country with inside entirely covered with paintings," said Maia Sandu.

The official also said that such unique places "make us proud and unite us, just as our forefathers were united in their faith in God when they built this church at night, despite all risks". "We will continue to preserve and care for our traditions and monuments and promote them all over the world," Maia Sandu said.
