Chisinau, April 1 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu met today with Penny Pritzker, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's economic recovery. Maia Sandu noted the importance of continued US aid to Ukraine, which, by its resistance to the Russian invasion, protects peace in our country as well, the presidential press service has reported.
The discussion focused on the role Moldova can play in Ukraine's recovery. Modern and safe roads and railways on our territory can facilitate connections between Ukraine and Romania and the rest of the European Union, boosting regional trade and our economy. Moreover, our country is willing to host companies involved in Ukraine's recovery to facilitate their access and further investment in the neighbouring country.
The officials also discussed how the war across the border has affected citizens and businesses, improving infrastructure and attracting investment to our country to grow the economy and create jobs. In all these efforts, the United States remains a reliable ally for Moldova. Maia Sandu expressed gratitude for helping our country overcome energy, economic, security and humanitarian challenges over the past two years, and for our consistent partnership since independence.
