Moldovan government approves judicial map review

Chisinau, 3 April /MOLDPRES/- Courts' institutional capacities will be strengthened and all citizens' access to quality justice will be increased. The government has approved amendments to the law on reorganisation of courts, the government's communication department has reported.
The headquarters of the following courts will be changed: Balti, Cimislia, Edinet, Cahul, Comrat, Drochia, Hincesti and Causeni. In particular, some seats will be reassigned to other courts.
It also sees the reorganisation of the courts of appeal and their reconfiguration by renaming them into: Central Court of Appeal, Northern Court of Appeal and Southern Court of Appeal, the latter will have two seats - the central one in Cahul and the secondary one in Comrat.
When revising the judicial map, several criteria were taken into account as a priority: the number of inhabitants in the region, the number of judges in each court, the workload per judge and per court, as well as the territorial infrastructure of the localities in the districts of the courts or courts of appeal.
