President conveys congratulatory message to Moldovan athletes

Chisinau, April 5 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu came up with a congratulatory message for wrestler Victor Ciobanu who qualified today for the Olympic Games in Paris, managing to reach the final of the qualification tournament in Baku. The official also congratulated the fighters of the national para-judo team on their victories at the Grand Prix in Antalya. Oleg Crețul managed to bring home another gold medal, while Ina Cernei and Ion Basoc came fifth, the presidential press service has reported.

"Our athletes manage to bring not only medals, but also a lot of joy and international recognition, so their work must be rewarded," the head of state said. Maia Sandu said that for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, the Government will award the following performance prizes:

for the gold medal - 3 million lei;
for second place - 2.6 million lei;
for third place - 2 million lei;
for fourth to eighth place - between 600 and 200 thousand lei.

The official wished good luck to all the athletes already qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including Oleg Crețul and Ion Basoc.
