Chisinau, April 10 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu met today with students and professors of Comrat State University and discussed several important issues.
"First of all, we talked about relations between us. In the last two years, we have made great efforts to keep peace and tranquility in our country and we still need unity. Those who try to sow discord and destabilize autonomy and the country have one goal - to bring corrupt groups back to the helm of the country. Our goal is to keep the peace, continue the fight against corruption and build together better living conditions for all Moldovan citizens, regardless of where they live and what language they speak," said the head of state.
The official said she had provided clear evidence that the central authorities were investing in the localities of Gagauzia and carrying out important projects for the inhabitants of the autonomy. From the state budget and European and other development partners' funds, they are financing road repairs, building water and sewage systems, repairing cultural centres, kindergartens and schools, and carrying out energy efficiency projects. All taxes collected in Gagauzia remain in the budget of the autonomy, compared to other localities in the country that pay part of the taxes collected into the state budget.
"We also discussed the advantages of European integration, and we need clarity and courage to move forward resolutely and achieve more than we have in the last three decades," the head of state said.
The president urged young people to take part in the afforestation actions. "In Gagauzia only 6 percent of the land is afforested. We need to take better care of our land", she said.
