Moldovan, European officials discuss current issues

Chisinau, April 11 /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a discussion with Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, and Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organisation, the presidential press service has reported.

Maia Sandu thanked them for support in overcoming the challenges caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, institutional reforms in the labour, as well as funding the related programmes. The signing of a new €2 million funding agreement, which will strengthen the capacities of the National Employment Agency and the State Labour Inspectorate was also welcomed.

They approached Moldova's participation in the European Commission's Employment and Social Innovation Programme (EaSI), which will allow access to funds for our country's social policies. The European Commission and the ILO will continue to support reforms in the social sector, institutional capacity building and transposition of European legislation and good practices.
