Chisinau, April 13 /MOLDPRES/- The Official Journal published today the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EFTA member states (Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway and the Swiss Confederation).
The document has hundreds of pages and aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the states and expand trade. Thus, exporters of Moldovan products will benefit from better economic conditions on the market of the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
At the same time, companies from EFTA countries will be encouraged to invest in Moldova. Thus, there will be an opportunity to create new jobs in our country.
According to the document, customs duties on imports of industrial products will be eliminated and concessions will be granted for market access for agricultural products. The agreement also includes chapters regulating trade in services, e-commerce, public procurement, etc.
According to statistics, in 2023, exports of Moldovan products to the EFTA market amounted to 33.34 million US dollars, while imports amounted to 64.1 million dollars.
The agreement was signed on 27 June 2023 in Schaan, Principality of Liechtenstein.
