Moldovan diplomat meets Council of Europe official

Chisinau, April 15 /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova's head of diplomacy Mihai Popsoi has met with Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić in Strasbourg.

The officials exchanged views on the recent developments in the political situation in Moldova, the EU accession process and the dynamics of the regional situation.

"We discussed the assistance provided by the Council of Europe, in particular through action plans for the Republic of Moldova and the importance of projects implemented in the areas of independence and efficiency of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and money laundering, legislation, electoral practice and protection of refugees of Ukraine.

The Council of Europe's assistance is extremely important and valuable, especially in the context of the current challenges and in particular the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine.

The Secretary General welcomed the determination of the Chisinau authorities in the process of democratic reforms in line with European standards. The official assured the Council of Europe's continued support in the framework of the future Action Plan, which will focus on justice, the fight against corruption and other key areas to support efforts to strengthen state institutions," he said.
