Chisinau, April 15 /MOLDPRES/ - Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) today approved amendments to the Regulations for the competition for the Prosecutor General and announced a new contest for the post.
According to Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, the changes are of a technical nature and relate to enhancing transparency, ensuring individual and collegial accountability during the conduct of the contest for the election of the Prosecutor General. The criteria and conditions for participation in the competition laid down in the law remain the same.
Also at today's meeting, the CSP members announced a new competition for the selection of the candidate for the position of Prosecutor General. Candidates who wish to submit their applications for the competition have 30 days to do so.
"The appointment of a new Prosecutor General is one of the commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova in the European integration. Citizens expect that the Prosecutor General's Office - an institution of strategic importance - will be headed by a professional and courageous person who will contribute to change things for the better in the prosecution system. I encourage professionals in the field, who meet the necessary conditions, to submit their applications and participate in the competition", said the minister.
In late February, the competition for the position of Prosecutor General ended.
Following the presidential decree of 26 September 2023, the position of Prosecutor General became vacant.
