Chisinau, April 16 /MOLDPRES/- In 2023, 151 European Union documents have been transposed into national legislation. The number is 40% higher than in 2022.
The data was presented by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov at hearings held today by the parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration. The discussions were attended by MPs and representatives of the centre of adjusting legislation.
96 EU-relevant acts were approved last year. 64 out of the 151 EU acts transposed into national legislation were fully transposed. Among the central authorities with the highest number of transposed and completed actions are the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitisation, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
Gherasimov also presented the progress made in the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations. It should be noted that eight recommendations have already been fulfilled. "I would say that we have a very good assessment of the implementation of the recommendations. We are already finalising the vetting and appointment of judges to the Supreme Court of Justice and finalising the selection and appointment of a new Prosecutor General. These are two measures in the last recommendation. The rest have already been implemented," Gherasimov said.
Moldova applied to join the European Union in March 2022 and received the status of candidate country in June 2022. In December 2023, EU leaders decided to open accession negotiations.
