Chisinau, April 18 /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan President Maia Sandu today convened a new National Commission for European Integration, appointed by presidential decree.
The replacement of the Commission with new members comes from the need for greater involvement in the EU accession process, both from the state and from civil society and the private sector. "This effort must be one of the whole society: the private sector, academia, representatives of civil society, but also those in the diaspora," the head of state said. She also welcomed the change in the structure of the Government to include the new position of Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and the establishment of the European Integration Office, aimed to coordinate the accession process.
The agenda of the meeting included speeding up the EU accession process. The committee members reviewed the evaluation of national legislation and preparations for its adjustment to the EU acquis.
The official stressed the need to qualitatively accelerate progress towards EU membership. Thus, the committee members were urged to ensure the timely implementation of the National Action Plan for Moldova's Accession to EU for 2024-2027.
