Moldovan, American officials approach current issues

Washington DC, April 19 /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi discussed with co-chairs of the US Congressional Moldova Caucus Michael Lawler and Deborah K. Ross.

The sides discussed the regional security situation, political developments in the Republic of Moldova, challenges associated with Russian aggression in Ukraine, as well as priorities on the European integration dimension, including reform efforts aimed at contributing to the opening of EU accession negotiations.

"I thanked the Congressmen for their continued support, including by passing resolutions supporting our country's reform agenda. We also stressed the importance of continued assistance to Ukraine and its support in promoting democracy throughout the European continent. The Republic of Moldova strongly supports our Ukrainian friends and is ready to get involved in Ukraine's reconstruction process in helping during wartime to provide grain transit and shelter for refugees," the Moldovan official stressed.
