Chisinau, April 23 /MOLDPRES/- On April 22, World Earth Day, the Soroca city hall celebrated the inauguration of Vasile Stroescu Street square, inviting the residents of the neighborhood and the foreign partner, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to celebrate this event. The project was carried out with the technical and financial support of the USAID, becoming an example of effective cooperation between the local administration and the American donor.
Along the way, the project managed to evolve into a platform for collaboration between the Soroca city hall and several international donors.
Among the beneficiaries of the project are more than 10,000 citizens, primarily residents of the neighbourhood who are delighted with the new public space that has improved their quality of life.
On this occasion, USAID Deputy Head John Riordan planted a tree in Soroca, making a personal contribution to the project. "The residents' desire to have a green area in their neighbourhood and their joy at carrying out of this project has once again highlighted the importance of green areas as essential elements of urban life, bringing significant benefits to both individuals and the community as a whole," he said.
The total value of the project was $100,706, including USAID's investment of $70,633.
