PHOTO Oncological Institute equipped with device for tumor treatment

Chisinau, April 24 /MOLDPRES/- Oncological Institute has been equipped with a 3D brachytherapy device. The device worth 319.5 thousand euros was donated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The inauguration event was attended by Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, International Atomic Energy Agency Eastern Europe representative Carmina Jimenez Velasco, the administration and medical staff of the institution.
The equipment is equipped with the latest technology, which allows specialists to place a high dose of radiation with high precision directly near the tumour and destroy cancer cells, while protecting healthy tissues in the body.
Brachytherapy treatment has minimal side effects and significantly improves the quality of life of patients. The procedure is minimally invasive, safe, effective, painless, requires no hospitalisation and recovery is rapid.
The Ministry of Health reiterates that about 100 million lei have been invested in the Oncology Institute over the last two years.
