Moldovan PM, APL representatives approach current issues

Chisinau, April 25 /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Dorin Recean had a meeting with mayors of Sangerei district. They discussed the importance of strengthening the efforts of public authorities at all levels to speed up the country's modernization and the opportunities for development of localities via the strategic goal of European integration.

The official addressed the authorities' efforts to reform key areas, including with the support of foreign partners, and to create a safe and predictable business environment for the country's entrepreneurs and foreign investors. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of holding the referendum on European integration this autumn. It will show the unity and support of the whole society for the EU accession project and the irreversibility of the European path.

"The European Union is the best development model for our country. The Republic of Moldova has chosen its path and it is for the first time that EU integration is no longer something abstract. We are doing concrete things - rehabilitating roads, building aqueducts, repairing schools and hospitals and bringing Europe home to every village and town", he said.

According to the Prime Minister, each locality can decide where to invest to improve the quality of life of its citizens. In this respect, the opportunities offered by the European Village programme and the funds available in the EU pre-accession period can be used.

The meeting also focused on the wastewater treatment plant in Pepeni village, the development of local tourism and the restoration of the cultural heritage of the locality.

They also approached street lighting, rehabilitation of roads between localities, and the need to facilitate the procedure for accessing programmes offered by the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture.
