Chisinau, April 30 /MOLDPRES/- Road infrastructure in our country will be monitored more efficiently, thanks to an information system. The Cabinet of Ministers today approved a decision on creation of the Public Road Register, the government's communication department has reported.
The information record of public roads will allow more precise monitoring of the condition of each route and identification of specific maintenance needs.
In this context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean pointed out that in the last two years more than 700 kilometres of roads have been rehabilitated or built. "The government is building European roads and this effort will continue from now on. I ask that with the implementation of this register, we also have a communication in terms of planning for the next three years of roads to be repaired. So that the local public administration knows what to expect and the business community can plan its investments accordingly," he said.
The Register data will also be used by other state information systems and resources, including for determining optimal routes for issuing special transport permits. The Register will be integrated with other relevant systems such as public transport, national geographic and emergency systems.
The resources required for the development of the information system are estimated at 6 million lei.
