CEC: People in localities where new local elections to be held can apply to vote at their place of residence

Chisinau, May 3 /MOLDPRES/ - As of 5 May citizens from localities where new local elections will be held can apply for voting at their place of residence - with mobile ballot box. The election is scheduled for 19 May.

According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), voters who for health or other compelling reasons cannot come to the polling station can apply to the electoral bureau for voting by mobile ballot box. Requests must be made in writing, starting 2 weeks before the day of voting and up to 2 p.m. on the day preceding the voting. On election day, applications shall be approved by the polling station by 14.00 upon presentation of a medical certificate.

On election day, the president of the polling station's electoral bureau appoints at least two members of the bureau, who travel with a mobile ballot box and the necessary voting materials to the voter's location to cast their vote.

On 19 May, new local elections will be held for a new composition of local councils in the localities of Cairaclia and Salcia, Taraclia district, Chioselia Rusa and Cotovscoe of Gagauzia, as well as for the election of the mayor in Tîrnova, Dondușeni district, Bucovăț, Straseni district, Sagaidac, Cimislia disrict and Hănăsenii Noi, Leova district.
