Moldovan Customs Service collects over 11.8 billion lei in January-April 2024

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Customs Service in January-April this year collected over 11.8 billion lei to the state budget, which accounts for 30.9 per cent of the annual budgetary task and is by 7.8 per cent more against the same period of the last year.   

According to the Customs Service, the value added tax (VAT) has the biggest share with 67.7 per cent, followed by the excise duty with 25.5 per cent and the customs duty with 6.5 per cent.   

Thus, the VAT on import stood at 7,997.09 million lei, which represents 67.7 per cent of the payments collected to the state budget. A growth of 280.9 million lei, or by 3.6 per cent more, is found out against the same period of the 2023 year (when 7,716.2 million lei was collected).  

At the same time, excise duties on import amounted to 3,014.98 million lei, which accounts for 25.5 per cent out of all payments collected to the state budget. Decision-makers ascertain an increase by 643.01 million lei, or by 27.1 per cent more, against the same period of the year before (when 2,371.97 million lei was collected).     

Also, the customs duty stood at 769.14 million lei, which accounts for 6.5 per cent of all payments collected to the state budget. A growth of 153.33 million lei, or by 24.9 per cent more, was ascertained against the same period of the 2023 year (when 615.8 million lei was accumulated).   

Also, the tax for the carrying out of the customs procedures amounted to 20.77 million lei, which accounts for 0.2 per cent out of all payments collected to the state budget. Decision-makers ascertain a decrease by 218.44 million lei against the same period of the previous year (when 239.21 million lei was collected).       

The Customs Service noted that the tax for the carrying out of the customs procedures was eliminated with the entrance into force of the Customs Code. Presently, this tax is collected from the residents of the Free Economic Zones and Giurgiulesti Free International Port, which opted for the carrying out of the activity according to the provisions in force on 31 December 2023.
