Speaker: Moldova, Ukraine have same aspirations - to be part of great European family, in world of peace and freedom

Chisinau, May 17 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and Ukraine have the same aspirations - to be part of the great European family, in a world of peace and freedom. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statements at a meeting with members of the Ukrainian delegation for interparliamentary relations of the Verkhovna Rada Mykhail Radutskyi and Mykola Stefanciuk.

The official said he discussed with his Ukrainian colleagues the current situation in the region and how Moldova can continue to help Ukraine in the barbaric war caused by the Russian Federation.

"The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have the same aspirations - to be part of the big European family, in a world of peace and freedom. To this end, together with our Ukrainian colleagues, we are doing our homework to open negotiations with the European Union as soon as possible", the speaker said.

Grosu announced that in the near future, the Chisinau parliament will adopt a declaration condemning Russia for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

"According to official data, more than 20 thousand Ukrainian children have been identified as abducted and taken to Russia. We will also attend the Ukrainian Peace Summit and the upcoming Ukrainian Reconstruction Conference in Berlin. From day one, we have condemned the war unleashed by the Russian Federation and supported Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, and that is what we will continue to do," he said.
