Sixty six cases of measles registered in Moldova in 2024

Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ - Sixty six cases of measles have been recorded in Moldova since the beginning of this year.
According to the National Public Health Agency (ANSP), a hotbed of measles has been recently registered in the Sangerei district, with 11 cases of disease in children, of whom 10 are from the same family. The sick children, with ages from 2 to 19 years, are presently under physician’s supervision and receive the concerned treatment. None of them was vaccinated against measles, for reason of affiliation with a religion.
Information by ANSP shows that 48 out of the 66 cases were registered in Chisinau, 11 in Sangerei, 2 cases in Ialoveni, one case in each of the districts of Orhei, Drochia, Falesti, Stefan Voda and Ungheni. The cases were confirmed at the concerned laboratory of the National Public Health Agency.
ANSP specialists remind to residents that there is no specific treatment against measles, but the disease can be prevented through vaccination.
